Back to the main site

Hi.

If you're here, we probably know each other. Welcome.

This is the quieter half of the site. The other page is the one I'd send a recruiter — this one's for the rest of you.

What I'm up to

Updated occasionally
  • Working on OpenCRVS — civil registration systems that governments actually use.
  • Learning more about distributed systems and when not to reach for them.
  • Slowly replanting the balcony after winter wiped out half of it.
  • Reading more long-form essays, less social feeds. Mixed success.

When I'm not coding

The things that keep me grounded.

Traveling

I grew up looking at maps. These days I try to get out of Dhaka whenever I can — Cox's Bazar, St. Martin, the hills around Bholagonj, Kaptai Lake. I'm not a fast traveler; I'd rather sit on a beach for three days and notice things than see five cities in five days.

Photography

Phone-camera photographer, mostly. I like the challenge of making something ordinary look considered — the light on a ferry railing, a market stall at dusk. If I'm at a thing with you, I'm probably quietly trying to take a photo of it.

Gardening

Our balcony is slowly becoming a small jungle. Bougainvillea, roses, and whatever else survives my forgetting. It's the opposite of software — slow, forgiving, and there's no version control. I recommend it.

Food

I will go out of my way for good food, and I'll try almost anything once. Street food, ramen, steak, momos — show me the line of people and I'm probably already in it.

Elsewhere

Want to actually talk? Email me. I read everything, and I reply more often than I should admit.
